Memphis, twice
Black and Neon started as an early-2010s Memphis nightlife night — blacklight, rap acapellas over heavy electronic instrumentals, neon on everyone. It is coming back to the basement at Minglewood Hall.
One thing we remember from the original run: the water sold. At a dollar a bottle we would move close to a thousand of them in a night — people danced that hard.
MEMPHYS is the water this time. Cans, no plastic, pulled from the aquifer under the city. Two Memphis things in one room: the water and the music that came out of the same place.
Who they are
MEMPHYS is premium artesian water drawn from the Memphis Sands Aquifer, the source beneath the city. MEMPHYS says the water is “purified by ancient sand and limestone over thousands of years” and that natural artesian pressure “pushes the water upward without pumps or electricity.” It is sold in cans rather than plastic bottles.
